Spectral Analysis of Experimental Ka-Band Propagation Measurements over the Australian LEO Microsatellite 'FedSat'

چکیده
The increased interest in the use of Ka band frequencies in satellite communications has prompted extensive propagation studies and the development of several rain fade models in the past, all of which are based on measurements from geostationary satellites only. Based on novel data, which has been experimentally obtained from the low earth orbit microsatellite ‘FedSat’, this paper addresses the spectral analysis of variable slant-path attenuation measurements under various weather conditions by examples, compares the results to similar GEO statistics and identifies potentially significant effects.

Typical Ka band Satellite Beacon Receiver Design for Propagation Experimentation
This paper presents the design and simulation of a typical Ka band satellite beacon receiver for propagation experimentation. Using satellite beacon signal as a reference signal in satellite wave propagation study, is one of the most important methods. Satellite beacons are frequently available for pointing large antennas, but such signals can be used for measuring the effect of natural phenome...

In this paper satellite wave propagation at Ku and Ka band is considered. The design and simulation of a typical satellite beacon receiver at Ka band is designed and simulated for the future works. Also rain attenuation prediction at Ku band using satellite signal beacon measurement and simulations for Iran Telecommunication Research Center (ITRC) are presented. The measurement setup consists o...
متن کاملThe 1998 Mars Global Surveyor Solar Corona Experiment
The Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) spacecraft, launched on November 7, 1996, carries an experimental space-to-ground telecommunications link at 32 GHz (Ka-band) along with the primary 8.4-GHz (X-band) downlink used for operational MGS project activities. The signals are simultaneously transmitted from a 1.5-m-diameter parabolic antenna on MGS and received by 34-meter beamwaveguide (BWG) antennas lo...
متن کاملExperimental Missions in W-Band: A Small LEO Satellite Approach
—W-band (75-110 GHz) is proposed nowadays as a valuable alternative to intensively-exploited Ku and Ka bands for high-speed transmission over satellite networks. In such a framework, some experiments are being carried out, which are targeted to verify the feasibility of exploitation of W-band for broadband service deployment. From a theoretical viewpoint, the large bandwidth availability and th...
